Copper Arrow Photography - Making Passion the Career
Aubray Ann Beth Vande Corput (yes, she has two middle names! One for her grandmother and the other for her aunt), is one amazing photographer and the owner of Copper Arrow Photography. Aubray was born and raised in Wisconsin where she still resides in a little town called Seymour.
Horses have nearly always been apart of her life. It all started because of a little fat pony that she rode at her local fair. Aubray’s cousin had already been taking lessons and competing at some barrel racing shows, so she decided to follow in her footsteps. Barrel racing didn’t captive Aubray’s heart, but she definitely enjoyed the trails. Her first lessons started at the age of five, and she got her very first horse at age nine. Flash was his name, a gorgeous strawberry roan overo gelding. Unfortunately, the family began to wonder if he had been drugged during their test ride because he began to exhibit some dangerous behaviors that a little nine year old couldn’t handle. Though, Aubray claims that boy taught her how to stick in the saddle.
Flash ended up being traded for a beautiful chestnut mare named Riley and that mare ended up being Aubray’s whole world. Riley was nineteen when they purchased her, and she lived to be a happy girl at age twenty-seven. Those years taught Aubray a lot, but left her devastated when Riley, her best friend, got put to rest. Copper Arrow was going to be originally be named Copper Horse Photography, but Aubray didn’t want to limit herself with just horses. So her uncle helped and made the suggestion for Copper Arrow, named after that little copper mare. Sadly, horses are not a part of Aubray’s life anymore, but she has made a living capturing the bonds between horses and their riders.
Growing up with family owned businesses has given Aubray an edge. Always having worked for her family, she hasn’t been a stranger to the hard work, drive, and knowledge it takes to keep a business going. So you could say that being an entrepreneur was in her blood. Although she has worked for other companies for quite some time, there is nothing compared to being your own boss.
Her business does have some trials, but its worth every bit! Aubray sometimes finds it tough to have the self-confidence needed, but for her clients, its always a unique experience that they all walk away from with higher confidence! Not to mention its a fun, enjoyable session that they will remember for years to come.
Aubray lives her days drinking coffee! But in all reality, her clients are her priority. She sorts and organizes emails, phone calls, and other client inquiries and needs. Once she’s finished contacting her clients, its a juggle between editing images, placing product orders, quality checking all orders, marketing, and of course, her own daily life!
Since Aubray can remember, she’s always had a creative energy. In high school she took a photography class, and she’s been hooked ever since. It fueled a fire that was already burning! And once she buckled down, and put in the hard work, Aubray saw her business grow immensely.
Aubray’s albums themselves are timeless, and so luxurious to hold. Her framed wall art is completely unique because each frame is made from real barn wood, and each has their own right amount of character. No frame is exactly like the other, so you’re getting a one of a kind piece of history to display your one of a kind memory. And that’s Aubray’s favorite part- seeing her clients eyes light up! And because of this passion, her work has been published in AQHA Journal, Rockn W Media, and some others!
Aubray is proud of her accomplishments, but says its been the result of very hard work, sleepless nights, and tough learning curves. She gives the most kudos to the support she receives from her incredible husband and the unwavering encouragement from family and friends.
